Flat Stanley Visits AmeriKen
When 7-year old Steve Zehentmaier was participating in a Flat Stanley Project for his 1st grade class
his assignment was to take Flat Stanley somewhere. Steve chose to have Flat Stanley visit his Dad at work. Bernie Zehentmaier, Shop Foreman of our Illinois location, was happy to give Flat Stanley a tour of our manufacturing facility, since Steve is not allowed to visit for safety reasons. As Bernie stated, "Flat Stanley doesn't bleed." And, as everyone in our industry knows, punches and steel rule don't mix well with children!
It was a great opportunity to share our industry and manufacturing facility, not only with the children in Steve's class, but where ever they chose to send the photos and journal of Flat Stanley's visit to AmeriKen.
The Flat Stanley Project is an international literacy and communications activity for students, teachers, and families. The project is a penpal activity that has been active since 1995. If you'd like more information about Flat Stanley, visit the project online at www.flatstanley.com.
